 All classes have a minimum of 4 students in order to run.
Registration closes 5 days prior to each class starting.

Adults and young adults
Instructor: Alice Carroll
6 week session: 9/12 to 10/24 (no class 10/10)
Students will learn how to use basic hand tools & the torch to make jewelry. Hot & cold connections will be taught. Through demonstrations and work time, each student will learn sawing, piercing, surface decoration, light forging, forming and basic stone setting. Students are encouraged to create their own designs using the techniques that are demonstrated.

Fee: $200 (members $180) + $30 materials fee

Fundamentals of Drawing, 1 to 4pm

Adults and young adults
Instructor: Russel Whitten
7 week session: 9/14 to 10/26
With professional guidance from Russel, students will discover how to represent what they see through studies in contour drawing, perspective, positive/negative space, and value.  In this 7 week drawing class, students will explore a number of traditional drawing techniques to see the world through a new lense, and increase observational skills. Upon completion, students will have a refined confidence in their drawing ability and be able to demonstrate various methods to representational imagery.

FEARLESS LANDSCAPE PAINTING (Acrylics), 10 to 12:30pm

Adults and young adults
Instructor: Caren-Marie Michel
7 week session: 9/15 to 10/27
Learn to be fearless in your landscape painting. Seven weeks of studio landscape painting in acrylics working with reference photos to paint what you see with glowing color and light. We will explore simplifying your subject, using drawing for strong compositions, developing seeing skills, learning or refreshing some basics, having fun with painting and loosening up with your work. Each class will start with a brief demo on the topic of the class. Students will paint in each class from provided reference photos or from their own photo. Individual feedback and class discussions of work will help to strengthen painting skills. Materials list provided.

Instructor: Cathryn Hammond
7 week session: 9/17 – 10/29
You’ve always wanted to try it, and this is the perfect opportunity to start your exploration in clay! This class will use fall leaves and grasses as inspiration to create simple, yet elegant pieces for your table or for the wall. You will be limited only by your own imaginations. Come on in and discover how easy and rewarding making your own pottery can be. Our stoneware clay and glazes produce durable pottery that are oven, microwave and dishwasher safe.
Fee: $235 (members $210) + $30 materials fee

Workshops & Craft Nights for Adults & Teens

Can’t commit to a weekly class? Check out our Workshops and Craft Nights designed for busy schedules!

Workshops are one-day events that take place, periodically, on the weekends. River Tree Arts strives to bring in talented practicing artists to offer you a variety of the finest and skilled experiences out there. From Belly Dancing to Exploring Pastels, our workshops afford you the opportunity to experience something new, within the arts, without a long term commitment.

Craft Night is an ongoing, 2 hour program that takes place every Thursday evening from 6pm to 8pm at River Tree Arts. We will offer a rotation of many different fun crafts and activities, such as Crafts with Driftwood, Aromatherapy, Custom Painted Signs and much more. Expand on the creativity you already posses and join us every Thursday night for a creative and social evening.
