5 week session: 9/19 to 10/24 (no class 10/10)
This multi week program will involve movement, arts, and promoting creativity as children will explore the different parts of their animal personas. Children will work on body awareness, balance, art projects, and social skills as they monkey around with each other. This class is appropriate for children with disabilities and accommodations can be made to help children participate to their full interest.
Fee: $130 (members $120)

METALSMITHING 101, 3:30 to 5:30pm

Grades 4+
Instructor: Alice Carroll
5 week session: 9/19 to 10/24 (no class 10/10)
Learn to make earrings, pendants, rings and more with metals. Work with metalsmithing tools to form, shape & create your own designs. Polishing, hammering and soldering will be the main focus of class. Each student will learn techniques to make their very own bracelets, rings, pendants and more. 8 student maximum.
Fee: $130 (members $120) + $20 materials fee

Tuesdays

THEATER, 3:30 to 5pm

Grades K+
Instructor: Barbara Fraser
14 week session: 9/13 to 12/13
In Miss Barbara’s semester-long theater class students, of all levels, are invited to explore the wonders of their imagination through theater games, play and improvisation. The skills developed throughout a semester of theater at River Tree Arts give students the tools to work well with others and confidence to become creative problem-solvers, inspired communicators and innovative thinkers. These skills help them improve their school work and move successfully through life.  Throughout the fall, students will write their own play, create their own music and build their own staging for the end of the semester performance.

Kids Theater

 

JAM AROUND THE WORLD, 3:30 to 5:30pm Canceled 

In collaboration with the Rec Department

Grades K+
Instructor: Barbara Fraser
8 week session: 9/6 to 10/25
Students will explore the world through art projects and music experimentation. Students will learn to see the world through a new lense as they explore dance, yoga, drumming, wind instruments, art projects and more. In addition to encouraging creative thinking and expression, this enriching program helps develop team skills, literacy and self esteem.
Fee: $175

 

DRAWING FOR BEGINNERS, 3:30 to 5pm Canceled 

Grades 3+
Instructor: Steve Hrehovcik
7 week session: 9/13 to 10/25
Students learn to use lines, shapes, shading, composition and perspective to create figure drawings, scenic views, architectural structures and still life compositions. Find your personal artistic style and develop ways to draw “what you see, not what you think you see.” You’ll learn the rules of art and how and when to break them. Imagine that! Bring a drawing pad (approx. 10 x 14 or bigger, spiral bound works best) and your imagination!
Fee: $140  (members $125)

Wednesdays

CLAY CLUB, 3:30 to 5:30pm (1 Spot left!)

Instructor: Megan Holtham
8 week session: 9/7 to 10/26
At River Tree Arts, we strive to design fun, challenging and educational projects to expand upon our students imaginations. Hand-building as well as throwing on the pottery wheel and trimming basics will be covered in this 8 week Pottery session for intermediate level students. This class is suitable for those with prior experience looking to further their skills with instruction. All finished pieces will be glazed on our final day of class and pottery will be durable and food safe.
Fee: $205 (members $185) +$20 materials fee

EARLY RELEASE WEDNESDAYS, 12:30 to 3:30pm

Early Release Wednesdays at River Tree Arts offers students a creative afternoon in RTA’s Community Art Room with faculty member, Abbeth Russel. Each month, students will have the opportunity to explore their inner creative geniuses as they design, build and create their own pieces of art. For Grades K+

Amazing Art Games! Today we will be playing art games a creating our very own board games. Be sure to bring your imaginations!
Fee: $30 (members $25)

        October 5

Monsters EVERYWHERE! Today we will be creating monsters and play monster themed art games using a variety of different art materials. Just in time for halloween!

Thursdays

 PRINT MAKING, 3:30 to 5:30pm Canceled 

Grades 2+
Instructor: Gayle Fitzpatrick
7 week session: 9/15 to 10/27
This after school class is for students who want to fully explore the amazing world of Printmaking. Every week we will work on a different method from monoprints, relief prints, mixed media prints and more! Students will learn how to use different approaches and materials to create multiple images of their art.
Fee: $182 (members $165)

INTRO TO POTTERY, 3:30 to 5:30pm (3 Spots left!)

Grades 1 +
Instructor: Megan Holtham
8 week session: 9/8 to 10/27
In this class, we will work with clay using hand building techniques. Pinch pots, coil techniques, slab building the pottery wheel and sculptures will all be explored in this beginner level clay class. We will also fire the clay in our kiln, and learn to apply glazes. Cups, bowls, tiles, animal sculptures….bring your imaginations and willingness to get a little dirty!
Fee: $205 (members $185) +$20 materials fee

Performing Puppets! We will be creating puppets today in the art room. Each student is invited to tap into their wildest imaginations to make characters of their very own.  Parents, please arrive early to catch an entertaining puppet show!

       December 7

Gifts Galor! Today students will be making hand crafted gifts… Just in time for the Holidays!

Juggling January! Beat the cold, gloomy weather and join us in the Community Art Room to create juggling props and play juggling games. Circus themed art projects will fill the room with creative fun!

      February 1

“Love” will be the theme of todays Early Release as students explore different ways to communicate, “I love you,” through many types of valentines for friends and family.

Future FUN! What do YOU think the future will be like? We will be exploring this question in class and through art, create our own vision for the future!

Earth Exploration: With Earth Day right around the corner, why not have an Earth themed art day at River Tree Arts? Using mixed media, including pieces from nature, students will make a variety of art projects in celebration of our Earth.
