 2017 Winter/Spring Semester After School Art at RTA

January – June

All classes are age specific and have a minimum of 4 students in order to run. Registration closes 5 days prior to each class starting. Classes subject to cancellation if we do not meet the 4 student minimum.

Kids Art Classes at River Tree Arts offers a wide range of classes in a variety of media and disciplines designed to inspire and develop artistic vision and creative confidence. RTA’s kids programs inspire a life long connection to the visual arts by sparking the imagination, promoting creative problem solving and building respect for the expression of other students.

April – June

Mondays

CREATIVE KIDS, 3:30 to 5:30pm

Grades K+
Instructor: Brigid Rankowski
7 week session: 4/24 to 6/12 (no class 5/29)
Creative Kids is an enriching after school program grounded in the belief that children are inherently curious and learn by doing. This class will introduce the world of the arts to students in a nurturing and inspiring way that will boost fluency, comprehension and confidence by integrating the visual arts with theatrical concepts. Materials and techniques taught will be geared towards students age level.

Fee: $182 (members $164)

 

METALSMITHING 101, 3:30 to 5:30pm  –  Registration has closed

Grades 4+
Instructor: Alice Carroll
7 week session: 4/24 to 6/12 (no class 5/29)
Learn to make earrings, pendants, rings and more with metals. Work with metalsmithing tools to form, shape & create your own designs. Polishing, hammering and soldering will be the main focus of class. Each student will learn techniques to make their very own bracelets, rings, pendants and more. 8 student maximum.
Fee: $182 (members $164) + $20 materials fee

Tuesdays

SCULPTURES w. KEVIN, 3:30 to 5:30

Grades K+
Instructor: Kevin Twaddel
8 week session: 4/25 – 6/13
During this fun, hands-on after school program, students will be introduced to the art of sculpture making inspired by both every day objects and the imagination. Students will receive thorough instruction to learn basic construction skills and techniques in a variety of different art materials to develop an understanding of clay and the third dimension. Examples will be provided to spark the creative process.

Fee: $208 (members $188) +$20 materials fee


Wednesdays

CLAY CLUB I, 3:30 to 5:30pm

Grades 1 – 5
Instructor: Megan Holtham
8 week session: 4/26 – 6/14
In this class, we will work with clay using hand building techniques. Pinch pots, coil techniques, slab building, sculptures and the pottery wheel will all be explored in this class. Students will learn basic glaze application and all work will be fired in RTA’s kiln. Cups, bowls, tiles, animal sculptures….bring your imaginations and willingness to get a little dirty!

Fee: $208 (members $188) +$20 materials fee

  

 

Early Release Wednesdays, 12:30 – 3:30pm

Early Release Wednesdays at River Tree Arts offers students a creative afternoon in RTA’s Community Art Room with faculty member, Abbeth Russel. Each month, students will have the opportunity to explore their inner creative geniuses as they design, build and create their own pieces of art. For Grades K+

Grades 1 – 5
