Teen Summer

Teen Intensives are designed for busy young adults + provide complete immersion within each workshop

Teens 14+ may attend adult classes, with instructor permission & parent approval.

Table for Two: Saturday Ceramics. 9-2pm. With Cathy Hammond

June 13, 20 & 27. $160/members, $175/non members. $25 materials fee. This workshop will be focused on the end product. Each student will learn to develop refined handbuilding skills to produce 2 plates, 2 bowls and 2 cups/mugs. Items will be bisque fired & then glazed & fired in the kiln to create food-safe, finished tableware. Each student will be able to demo on the potter’s wheel, but this class will be primarily for handbuilding. Students can pick up their pieces the following week or make arrangements to have them shipped. *This is a teen + adult class.

Accelerated Pottery Clinic: Friday Workshop. 9-2pm. With Megan Holtham

July 3, 10, 17 & 24 or July 24, August 7, 14, 21. $2o5/members, $225/members
Week 1 – Intro to clay: Hand building techniques & potters wheel.
Week 2 – Exploring patterns and textures in clay. We will use stencils & leaves to mold slab work in fun and unique ways.
Week 3 – Altering forms off of the wheel. Manipulate and trim your thrown forms using carving techniques with option of adding handles & spouts. Underglaze techniques possible with leather hard pieces. (Bisque fire to follow this class).
Week 4 – Glaze. Students will learn glazing techniques & finish glazing & preparing their own pieces for the kiln. Students can pick up their finished pieces the following week or make arrangements to have them shipped).

METALSMITHING Intensive. With Alice Carroll. July 21. 9-2pm

9-2pm. Grades entering 7+ $35/members, $38/non members.  Use metalsmithing tools to form, shape & design your own designs. Hammering, polishing, wire wrapping & hot/cold process soldering will be the main focus of class. Torches & bezels will be used. Make earrings, pendants, wristband, rings, dog tags (necklace/ID or actual dog tag) during this 5 hour workshop. Max 8
