Intro to Painting

Understand the fundamentals of working with color, and composition! Learn through foundational exercises that take the guesswork out of mixing color, setting up a palette and, with plenty of studio time, explore materials and processes, learn from the work of Masters past and present, and paint! All skill levels welcome. There will be small breaks for a light snack and a stretch. Coffee and tea will be provided during the break.  MEMBERS: $250  NON-MEMBERS: $268  REGISTER HERE

Observational Drawing

Learn how to capture what you see on paper! With plenty of studio time working from set-ups, veteran artist/ teacher Heather Lewis, will introduce you to age old exercises and techniques. Join Russel Whitten in the studio working from still lifes using watercolors! This class is suitable for all levels. A great class for first time artists who are new to exploring this medium and intermediate artists looking to fine tune their skills. MEMBERS: $225  NON-MEMBERS: $242  REGISTER HERE

Instructor: Brendan Roddy
May 1 – June 12  (7 weeks)

Join ceramic artist, Brendan Roddy for a fun and informative, hands-in-clay experience. In this class, students will be introduced to a variety of hand building techniques to create beautiful and functional works of art inspired by the season. Demonstrations on the pottery wheel will give students the confidence to explore and create bowls, plates, mugs and more. The last week of class will be focussed on basic glaze application and all work will be fired in RTA’s kiln which will make pottery durable and functional.

*** Intermediate level students are welcome to join. If you have more experience, we can build on what you already know. Class is limited to 8 students.

Workshops are one-day events that take place, periodically, on the weekends. River Tree Arts strives to bring in talented practicing artists to offer you a variety of the finest and skilled experiences out there. From Belly Dancing to Exploring Pastels, our workshops afford you the opportunity to experience something new, within the arts, without a long term commitment.

Craft Night is an ongoing, 2 hour program that takes place every Thursday evening from 6pm to 8pm at River Tree Arts. We will offer a rotation of many different fun crafts and activities, such as Crafts with Driftwood, Aromatherapy, Custom Painted Signs and much more. Expand on the creativity you already posses and join us every Thursday night for a creative and social evening.
