Instructor: Leah Payne Gouache paint is an art medium that most haven’t heard of, but it’s perfect for bold, illustrative, and stylish work! This class will explore gouache painting techniques and materials to help you create works with your own artistic voice. Learn from a professional gouache illustrator all the tricks of this wonderful medium! In-class projects will help you develop the skills and confidence to continue painting after the class is over. This class is tailored towards beginner artists, but any experience (or not!) in painting is welcome.

Instructor: Marrick Auger Join Marrick for an adult metal smiting class “Intro to Stone Setting”. Students will learn the basics of metal smithing, torch work and stone setting in a fun group environment. All participants will learn how to design, construct and finish a piece in sterling silver or brass. No previous experience needed. All materials provided. Class is limited to 6 students per session.

In this course, students will learn the fundamentals of sketching and drawing, providing them with a solid foundation to take their artwork to the next level. Students will focus on honing their technical skills, and will learn how to transform three dimensional objects and scenes into a two dimensional image on the page. From still lives to landscapes to portraits, this course will provide beginner artists with the knowledge they need to improve their drawing skills and continue drawing well into the future!

This sewing class will focus on introducing beginner-level techniques used to operate a sewing machine in order to create functional and also decorative products. We will go through this process to make various home decor items and/or accessories.

Join Russel Whitten for a 6-week exploratory watercolor class. This class will be held outdoors weather permitting or indoors at River Tree Arts. Join ceramic artist Hannah Medovnikov for a fun and informative, hands-in-clay experience. In this class, students will be introduced to a variety of hand-building techniques to create beautiful and functional works of art inspired by everyday life. Students are encouraged to research work that inspires them in order to achieve their creative goals alongside instruction and guidance. Students will also have the chance to work on the wheel to create mugs and bowls. The last week of class will be focused on basic glaze application and all work will be fired in RTA’s kiln which will make pottery durable and functional. Max attendees 8.

Come enjoy an evening of painting a mini local landscape with acrylic paint. You will learn techniques of painting with acrylics including tonal ground, under painting, glazing and color mixing. Demonstrations will be projected onto a large screen as well as students receiving personal instruction. All supplies are provided. Come relax and create!
