Watercolors (Beginners)

This class for beginners will provide training in the direct observation of form and its surrounding elements. The emphasis will be on drawing and controlling watercolor media while re-creating the appearance of nature with use of surrounding forms. The development of forms as derived from the study of perspective, composition, value, and color will play as the foundation for this class. MEMBERS: $238  NON-MEMBERS: $258

Observational Drawing 2

Join Russel Whitten in the studio working from still lifes using watercolors! A great class for beginners with experience, or intermediate to advanced artists looking to fine-tune their skills.  MEMBERS: $245  NON-MEMBERS: $262

 

Ceramics 

Wednesday evenings 6 – 8:30 pm

Instructor: Brendan Roddy
(8 weeks) January 15 – March 11 (no class February 19)

Join ceramic artist, Brendan Roddy for a fun and informative, hands-in-clay experience. In this class, students will be introduced to a variety of hand building techniques to create beautiful and functional works of art inspired by the season. Demonstrations on the pottery wheel will give students the confidence to explore and create bowls, plates, mugs and more. The last week of class will be focused on basic glaze application and all work will be fired in RTA’s kiln which will make pottery durable and functional.

*** Intermediate level students are welcome to join. If you have more experience, we can build on what you already know. Class is limited to 8 students.

Learn to Knit

Saturdays, 1-3pm
(6 weeks) January 18 – February 22, 2020
Instructor: Tina Fischer

This class is for both total beginners and newbies or lapsed knitters who want to become more confident with the craft. We’ll learn all the basics of knitting: casting on, binding off, the knit stitch and the purl stitch, knitting with two straight needles and knitting in the round with a circular needle. We’ll work on two projects for wearable winter accessories.

Students should bring to class, a pen/pencil, scissors, a ruler, two rubber bands, a tote bag to carry supplies/projects.

MEMBERS: $135 (+ $25 materials fee) NON-MEMBERS: $148 (+ $25 materials fee)
