Sunday Afternoon Drawing

Learn how to capture what you see on paper! With plenty of studio time working from set-ups, veteran artist/teacher Heather Lewis, will introduce you to age old exercises and techniques. Gain confidence as your drawing skills develop! Tea and coffee will be served.

Sewing

Wednesdays, 6-8pm

River Tree is now offering a relaxed yet informative class for those with little or no knowledge of sewing. After this 6 week class, you will feel confident in your basic sewing skills. For very beginners or experienced beginners as well.

Learn to Knit

Saturdays, 1-3pm
(5 weeks) March 15 – April 12

This class is for both total beginners and newbies or lapsed knitters who want to become more confident with the craft. We’ll learn all the basics of knitting: casting on, binding off, the knit stitch and the purl stitch, knitting with two straight needles and knitting in the round with a circular needle. We’ll work on two projects for wearable winter accessories. Students should bring to class, a pen/pencil, scissors, a ruler, two rubber bands, a tote bag to carry supplies/projects.

Ceramics (Mondays)

Mondays, 6-8:30pm

Join ceramic artist, Brendan Roddy for a fun and informative, hands-in-clay experience. In this class, students will be introduced to a variety of hand-building techniques to create beautiful and functional works of art inspired by the season. Demonstrations on the pottery wheel will give students the confidence to explore and create bowls, plates, mugs and more. The last week of class will be focused on basic glaze application and all work will be fired in RTA’s kiln which will make pottery durable and functional.

MEMBERS: $246 (+ $25 materials fee)   NON-MEMBERS: $266 (+ $25 materials fee)

Watercolors (Beginners)

This class for beginners will provide training in the direct observation of form and its surrounding elements. The emphasis will be on drawing and controlling watercolor media while re-creating the appearance of nature with use of surrounding forms. The development of forms as derived from the study of perspective, composition, value, and color will play as the foundation for this class. MEMBERS: $238  NON-MEMBERS: $258

Wandering Watercolors

Join us as we get out of the studio and into nature for a 8 week watercolor painting class led by Russel Whitten. Each week, class will be held offsite at a location around town. If mother nature decides to not cooperate, class will be held at RTA. All students should meet at RTA each week to find out where the location for the class will be held and as a group, will venture out to paint! This class is for both beginners and intermediate students looking to refresh their painting skills & color knowledge. MEMBERS: $225  NON-MEMBERS: $240

 

Stone Setting

Tuesdays, 6-8pn

This is the perfect workshop for learning the art of stone setting. In this 6-week class, students will learn how to create a custom bezel, solder, set stones and more. Students will explore specialized stone-setting tools to design and create their own unique work. This is a great class for beginners and for those with some metalworking experience who want to advance their skills in stone-setting. MEMBERS: $150 +$25 materials fee  NON-MEMBERS: $168  +$25 materials fee

Watercolors: Spring Botanical Wreath

Have you ever wanted to learn how to paint with watercolors? In this workshop, you will learn about watercolor technique and materials, basic brushstrokes, how to paint several different types of flowers and leaves and we will combine the elements into a painted wreath. All materials will be provided. No experience needed.
