Instructor: Leah Payne If you’ve been interested in watercolor painting but aren’t sure where to start, then this is the class for you! This class will explore the fundamentals of watercolor, from which materials to use, which techniques will work best for you, and how to best get your ideas from your head to your paper. In-class projects will help you develop the skills and confidence to continue painting even after the class is over. This class is recommended for beginners with little to no experience. Materials will be provided for this class, however students are welcome to bring in their own.

Join ceramic artist Hannah Medovnikov for a fun and informative, hands-in-clay experience. In this class, students will be introduced to a variety of hand-building techniques to create beautiful and functional works of art inspired by everyday life. Students are encouraged to research work that inspires them in order to achieve their creative goals alongside instruction and guidance. Students will also have the chance to work on the wheel to create mugs and bowls.
The last week of class will be focused on basic glaze application and all work will be fired in RTA’s kiln which will make pottery durable and functional!

Does your kid love to draw? Do they have active imaginations? Have them learn from a professional illustrator how to tell a story with their art! In this class we will learn about classic folk tales and what makes them magical so that you can create your own! Children will be able to write their own fantastical story, and then be guided on how to draw the scenes they’ve written. Children will learn basic character design and drawing techniques so that they can feel confident in their creations.
At the end of this class, children will have their own finished story book written and illustrated entirely by them!

Instructor: Satsi Schimelpfenig In this class, students will learn the basic skills of fashion design and garment structures. Using a variety of hand sewing, machine sewing, pattern-making, and fashion illustration techniques, the instructor will help guide students to create their own unique pieces.
At the end of the session of classes, students will be invited to walk the runway in their very own fashion show to showcase their pieces to their friends and family!

Learn from a professional illustrator how to tell a story with your art! The first part of this class will teach you about different methods of visual storytelling, and the second part of this class will help you develop your technical skills to tell your own visual story! We will learn about character design, dynamic composition, and which medium will best work for you to depict your ideas. Each student will be able to create their own unique visual story, whether it be a comic book, a fairytale, a standalone illustration, or anything else they can imagine!

In this class, children will learn painting techniques to help them feel successful with a brush in their hands. Artists will explore color and shape to help them discover their individual artistic styles. Explore color mixing, creating texture, as well as choosing materials. Artists will learn how to use their new skills to continue making art far into the future! Students will work on various surfaces including canvases, rocks, traditional paper, and more!

If you have never painted with acrylics before or have you tried acrylic painting but got frustrated, this course is for you. Learn how to paint in acrylics with step by step instructions to help you understand basic techniques. In this class we will create mini paintings to learn underpainting, glazing, smooth transitions and more. All materials are provided. Come join us for a fun, creative deep dive into acrylic painting.

This class presents an opportunity for a parent and their toddler to create art together! You’ll be able to leave with projects and fun memories (without the mess for you to clean up in your own home). Each project will be centered around a children’s book or song to activate all of their senses, and get them exposed to the excitement and creativity of feeling like they are in an art studio. Projects may entail sensory elements such as painting, gluing, and sculpting clay. Recommended for children ages 2-4.

Do you love to make your own jewelry and accessories? Then this class is for you! Each week, Emily will invite students to explore a variety of media and materials such as wire, beads, baubles, ribbon, buttons, textiles and fabric paint etc. to create earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings, hair accessories, key chains, wall hangings/charms and broaches/pins. In addition to learning the basics of working with wire and jewelry findings like jump rings and clasps, students will also learn how to hand-sew (without a machine) their own bags/pouches and deconstruct/reconstruct and embellish a plain white t-shirt! Students will be encouraged to think-outside-the-box and harness their creative powers to create their own unique designs!
