FEBRUARY BREAK INTENSIVES
The American Landscape with Sophie from OMMA (Ogunquit Museum of American Art) Date: Tuesday, February 18th Duration: 11am-2pm with a break for lunch (3 hours) Grades: 1-5 Max Students: 20 Cost: $30 members / $35 non-membersall materials included. Explore the creation of dual worlds in this engaging class led by Sophie Cordery, Education & Community Outreach Fellow at the Ogunquit Museum of American Art. Through discussion and collaborative art-making, participants will reflect on the familiar landscapes of coastal Maine and reimagine cityscapes as spaces of escapism and fantasy. Students will create a split canvas blending realism and imagination, capturing the tranquility of what they know and the excitement of what they envision. This class invites creativity and exploration of how landscapes shape our perceptions and dreams. |
Metalsmithing: Collaborative Calder Mobile with Neil
Dates: Tuesday, February 18th & Wednesday, February 19th Duration: 2 days, 11 am–2pm (3 hours) Grades 6–12 Maximum Students: 8 Cost: $135 members / $150 non members; all materials included. Bring a bag lunch and hydration. River Tree Arts is a no nut facility. Inspired by Alexander Calder, a groundbreaking inventor and artist, this class invites students to collaboratively create a wire and metal mobile sculpture. Participants will learn the basics of soldering, working with metalsmithing tools, and incorporating reclaimed and milled metal pieces. The finished collaborative artwork will become an installation at River Tree Arts as part of our “We Are RTA” collection. |
Wire Trees with Wire By Ryan – Sponsored by Federal Jacks Date: Saturday February 22nd Duration: 3pm-5pm (2 hours) Cost: $75 members / $80 non-members Beer & Snack Tickets: $15 per person. Includes 2 beverages and cold pub snacks. Beer & sodas by Shipyard Brewing and Captain Eli’s, cold pub snacks from Federal Jacks. Coffee, tea and bottled water are also available. About The Class: Join local award winning wire artist Ryan Kelley for a wire tree art class at River Tree Arts. Ryan will teach you how to create a wire tree in any style you want on an adult closed fist sized rock you provide during this two hour class! Price includes all of the tools and materials needed for you to create your own wire tree sculpture! Things you need to bring: – An adult closed fist sized rock for your tree to grow on – Friends and family to participate with – Your creativity! |

KID CLASSES – Tuesdays
Kids Ceramics (Grades 3-5) Dates: (6 weeks) March 4 – April 8 (makeup date if RTA cancels class 4/15) When: Tuesdays, 3:45pm – 5:30pm Instructor: Satsi Schimelpfenig Cost: Members: $180; Non-members: $200 Ceramics class offers young artists in grades 3-5 the opportunity to explore their creativity while experiencing everything clay! Students will experiment with a variety of hand building techniques to create their masterpieces. All projects will be fired in the kiln and students will learn basic glazing applications to finish their work. Max: 8 attendees. |
Latin Style Dance
Dates: (6 weeks) February 25 – April 1 When: Tuesday evenings, 6:45pm-7:30pm Guest Instructor: Mari Mattuchio Ages: Teens & Adults Cost: Members: $120; Non-members: $132 Learn one of the two basic and most popular Latin style dances, Merengue & Salsa. We will spend 3 weeks learning each dance in a fun and relaxed environment. No previous experience needed. Smooth sole shoes preferred but not required. Max. # of attendees: 10 |
Fun Family Dance (Parents and Kids, Grades 4+)
(6 weeks) April 8 – May 20 (no class during April break) When: Tuesday, 6:45pm-7:30pm Instructor: Abby Nolette Cost: Members $120 / Non-members $132.00 (fee per person) REGISTER HEREFun Family Dance: Kids (grades 4+ ) and their favorite caregivers are invited to dance together with us! Learn basic dance moves in various styles to create a fun upbeat routine with Miss Abby. * This class will have the option to be part of the recital. Costume fees are not included so as a group they will decide what to wear. |

Art Start Parent & Child Creativity Class (ages 2-4) Dates: (6 weeks) March 6 – April 17 (no class 3/20) (akeup if RTA cancels class 5/1) Day: Thursday Time: 10-11am Instructor: Satsi Schimelpfenig Cost: $150.00 members ; $186.00 Non-members (all supplies included) This class presents an opportunity for toddlers and their guardians to create art together. You’ll be able to leave with projects and fun memories, without the mess for you to clean up in your own home. Projects will entail sensory elements and development of fine motor skills throughout painting, drawing, and gluing, as well as sculpting and glazing clay that we will fire in our kiln! This class is perfect for children ages 2-4. Max 6 attendees. |

- In the case that a class is canceled due to weather and a student cannot attend the rain-date, refunds will not be issued.
- All children need to have a completed consent form on file before attending classes without an adult: RTA Consent Form
- If there are any allergies or serious medical information that we need to be aware of before your child attends art camp, kindly ensure that you provide this information as early as possible so that we can make the necessary arrangements.
- No early drop off or late picks up can be accommodated.
- RTA is a NUT-FREE facility.
