CLASSES – Mondays
INTRO TO CROCHETWhen: Mondays, 3:45pm – 5:15pm
Instructor: Leah Payne Cost: $40 members; $45 non-members What you can create with just yarn and a hook is amazing! During these workshops, students will be provided with online introductory instruction, then work on a crochet project, learning the terminology and techniques, with guided in-person help from an instructor. Students will learn basic stitches that will help them in their crochet journey for years to come. Students will be asked to video instructional video content prior to attending their first class. Project themes vary by dates. All students will leave with a finished piece. All supplies included. Max: 10 attendees |
CLASSES – Tuesdays
KIDS CERAMICS (Grades 3-5)Dates: (6 weeks) March 4 – April 8 (makeup date if RTA cancels class 4/15) Time: Tuesday, 3:45-5:30pm Instructor: Satsi Schimelpfenig Cost: Members: $180.00 / Non-Members: $200.00 Ceramics class offers young artists in grades 3-5 the opportunity to explore their creativity while experiencing everything clay! Students will experiment with a variety of hand building techniques to create their masterpieces. All projects will be fired in the kiln and students will learn basic glazing applications to finish their work. Max: 8 attendees. |

KIDS FASHION INSPIRATION BOARD (Grades 5-8)Dates: (6 Weeks) January 8-February 12 (makeup date if RTA cancels class 2/26) When: Wednesdays, 3:45pm-5:15pm Cost: $160.00 Members ; $180.00 Non-Members (all supplies are provided) Instructor: Gabriele Hungerford Discover the secret behind every great design collection—the inspiration board. From fashion to home design, every creative industry starts with this essential tool. Inspiration boards bring ideas to life by curating images, colors, and materials to reflect trends, moods, or themes. Whether interpreting the clash of “classic” and “punk” in a garment or expressing a unique vision for a brand, this process defines a creative direction and acts as a roadmap for the design journey. In this class, you take the reins. Learn how to identify trends, blend contrasting ideas, and visually communicate your concept through a compelling inspiration board. You’ll gain practical skills to kickstart the creative process, whether for personal projects or professional pursuits. |
CLASSES – Thursdays
ART START (Parent & Child Creativity Class – Ages 2-4)Dates: (6 weeks) January 9 – February 13 (makeup if RTA cancels 2/27) Day: Thursday Time: 10am-11am Instructor: Satsi Schimelpfenig Cost: $150.00 members ; $186.00 Non-members (all supplies included) This class presents an opportunity for toddlers and their guardians to create art together. You’ll be able to leave with projects and fun memories, without the mess for you to clean up in your own home! Projects will entail sensory elements and development of fine motor skills throughout painting, drawing, and gluing, as well as sculpting and glazing clay that we will fire in our kiln! This class is perfect for children ages 2-4. Max: 6 attendees. |
CLASSES – SatuRdays
IMPROV FOR YOUNG ADULTS (Grades 9-12)Dates: (6 weeks) January 4 – February 8 When: Saturdays, 11am-1pm Cost: $220 Members ; $240 Non-Members Instructor: Samuel Kuykendall An introductory course in improvisational acting for students… Do you or a teen you know have an interest in acting, improvisation, and/or comedy? Maybe you’re a fan of Whose Line is it Anyway?, Mock The week or the films of Christopher Guest. Learn the art of improvisational acting with instructor Samuel Kuykendall, leader of the infamous Yes & Co. In this 8 week series of 2-hour classes students will learn the fundamentals of improvisation and how to use those skills on and off stage. Learn how staying present, listening, and saying “yes, and” can lead to fun, engaging and hilarious situations. Each week Samuel will have students focus on a different facet of improvisation, using game-play from Day 1. Students will learn short-form, and long-form games with a little bit of music thrown in for good measure. By the conclusion of the course, each student will possess the skills needed to improvise and collaborate with others more thoughtfully and confidently. The class will conclude with a performance for friends and family on the final class date. |

- Don’t dress in your best attire for art classes; art can get messy!
- Please read all of River Tree Arts’ Policies and Procedures before registering for any event.
- In the case that a class is canceled due to weather and a student cannot attend the rain-date, refunds will not be issued.
- All children need to have a completed consent form on file before attending classes without an adult: RTA Consent Form
- If there are any allergies or serious medical information that we need to be aware of before your child attends art camp, kindly ensure that you provide this information as early as possible so that we can make the necessary arrangements.
- No early drop off or late picks up can be accommodated.
- RTA is a NUT-FREE facility.
