River Tree Arts Camps offer students of all ages and levels of experience a wide range of workshops taught by teaching artists. Our Camps and Workshops are structured to provide the community with a variety of options to accommodate busy summer schedules. Camps include painting, sewing, drawing, dance, ukulele, photography, metalsmithing, collaborative projects and more. All camps are age specific.

PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR ALL CAMPS.
CAMPS MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF 4 STUDENTS IN ORDER TO RUN.
ALL CAMPS ARE SUBJECT TO CANCELLATION DUE TO LOW NUMBERS, SO DO NOT DELAY IN REGISTERING!

 

August 19 – 21 (Mon | Tues | Wed)

Dance Camp

August 19 – 21: Monday – Wed, 10am – 12pm
Ages 7 – 10
Instructor: Dolly Nguyen
In this camp we’ll explore different styles of dance each day! We’ll have a different themed class every day that includes arts, crafts, games and lots of fun! Themes will be announced 1 week prior to the camp. Please make sure to pack a snack and water. Fee: $70 (members $60)

August 19 – 23 (Monday – Friday)

World of Wonder: The Meeting of the Mighty

August 19 – 23: Monday through Friday, 9am – 12pm
Ags 8 -12
Instructor: Barbara Fraser
This is a new, creative theatre program that will be improvisational and all about ensemble building. We welcome all levels of experience. On the first day, each participant brings costume and props related to their favorite mythological god. We will form an ensemble as we write our own play that will include everyone’s god character. Opportunities for musicians, dancers, and artists. Performing our work in progress will be an option at the end of the week on Friday at 12 PM. Fee: $150 (members $135)

Lights, Camera, Action!

August 19 – 23: Monday through Friday, 1pm – 4pm
Ags 8 -12
Instructor: Brigid Rankowski
Make your own movie, film it, and edit it in this week-long camp! You can become the director or star of your own film. Children will have fun learning the creative process of filmmaking and seeing their imaginations come to life. Fee: $150 (members $135)

August 20 – 22 (Tues | Wed | Thurs)

Drawing Club

August 20 – 22: Tues – Thurs, 9am – 12pm
Grades entering 2+
Instructor: Abbeth Russel
In this class, we will experiment with many fun drawing games and exercises to spark your creativity.  Scribble drawing, sketching, character drawing, still life and more!  You will use what you learn from these activities to create your own collection of work. Fee: $90 (members $80)

Story Book Journey

August 20 – 22: Tues – Thurs, 1pm – 4pm
Grades entering 2+
Instructor: Abbeth Russel
Write and illustrate your storybook from scratch! Students will journey from raw ideas, sketches, and first drafts to finished stories and full color drawings. We will gather inspiration by studying the works of Marice Sendak, JK Rowling, Dr. Seuss and many more favorites. This class will build skills in writing, drawing, design, process, and problem solving. Fee: $90 (members $80)

August 26 – 30 (Monday – Friday)

Best of Broadway   (a few spots left!)

August 26 – 30: Monday through Friday, 9am – 12pm
Grades entering K+
Instructor: Laurel Jordan
Do you love to sing?  Do you love to dance? In this class, we will sing and perform some of the best songs from Broadway musicals while learning basic vocal technique and simple choreography. There will be a final performance for friends and family on Friday. Fee: $150 (members $135)

Summer Painting  (FULL)

August 26 – 30: Monday through Friday, 1pm – 4pm
Grades entering K+
Instructor: Piper Castles
Learn the basic techniques of painting with acrylics and apply them to complete finished paintings. Explore color mixing while painting flowers. Learn to underpaint and glaze by painting a beach. Create texture while painting ice cream.  Students will create mini painting to master new techniques, then create larger paintings with their new skills. Please wear clothes that would look good with paint on them.

Please be advised:

  • There are absolutely no early drop-off, or late pick-up options available during our summer programs. RTA’s doors will open for camps, promptly at 9am and no earlier.
  • Students enrolled in full-day camps should pack a snack, drink and lunch. River Tree Arts is a nut-free facility.
  • Don’t dress in your best attire for art camps ; art can get messy.
  • Please arrive wearing sun cream and bring a hat; small breaks or lunch may be spent outside at the playground located across the parking lot (under adult supervision).
  • All students need to complete the consent form and return it to RTA by the first day of camp.
  • If there are any allergies or serious medical conditions that RTA needs to be aware of, kindly notify us as soon as possible so that we can make necessary arrangements.
