We’re excited to offer three Early Release “Clubs” this year for students to create in this extra time, and give parents a place for kids to be!

Fashion Club: Create, design & explore!

Calling all fashion lovers and creative minds! Join us for a fun series of 9 hands-on fashion workshops held on early release days. Each workshop will feature a different fashion-inspired theme, allowing students to join one session or participate in as many as they’d like without repeating the same project. Students will explore the exciting world of fashion through creative activities, design challenges, and hands-on projects. From learning about style and trends to creating their own unique designs, students will have fun using their imagination, expressing their creativity, and discovering what makes fashion so much fun!

Dance Club: Move, create & explore!

Get moving with a fun and energetic dance workshop! Each session will feature a different dance style, giving students the opportunity to explore new movement, music, and choreography. With a new style featured each month, students are encouraged to attend every workshop for a fresh and exciting experience!

Art Club: Creative movement & art workshops!

An afternoon to move, imagine, explore, and create! Each three-hour workshop begins with creative movement, playful yoga, and group games designed to get kids moving, connecting, and using their imaginations. From there, we transition into an open-ended art experience inspired by a new theme each month. Rather than following a step-by-step craft, young artists are invited to experiment with materials, develop their own ideas, solve creative problems, and make something that is truly their own. No two creations will look alike! Only 8 spots available.

Who – or what – could you become? After playful movement and yoga games, we’ll explore transformation through art. Using simple mask forms and an inviting collection of paper, fibers, feathers, natural elements, and drawing materials, children will invent their own animal, character, mythical creature, or entirely new being. We’ll bring our creations to life through movement and imagination at the end! 

If a tiny magical being lived here, what would it need? Step into an enchanted miniature world! After imaginative movement and games, we’ll explore natural materials such as bark, twigs, stones, pinecones, moss, clay, and other loose parts. Children can construct fairy houses, gnome homes, gardens, bridges, tiny furniture, pathways – or perhaps an entire miniature village. Where their world goes is up to them! 

What happens when we create with light? This winter workshop is inspired by light, transparency, reflection, and shadow. After movement and playful exploration, young artists will experiment with translucent papers, reflective surfaces, fibers, shapes, and natural materials to create beautiful hanging light catchers and window art. 

What can you turn a simple piece of cardboard into? We’ll start with creative movement, yoga games, and playful building challenges before opening our very own construction studio! Using cardboard, tape, paper, string, tubes, and an assortment of interesting loose parts, young artists will cut, connect, build, balance, and invent. Create an unusual building, a fantastical vehicle, a robot, an invention, a sculpture – or something that doesn’t even have a name yet!

How many ways can we communicate without speaking? We’ll begin with partner movement, mirroring games, and playful connection before heading into an art experience filled with secret messages, symbols, tiny books, folded notes, maps, codes, and beautiful papers. Children can create something to keep, give away, or secretly deliver to someone special. 

Can you invent a creature the world has never seen before? Welcome to the Creature Laboratory! After exploring animal-inspired movement, students will use clay, fibers, natural objects, cardboard, and other loose parts to construct an entirely original three-dimensional creature. Then we’ll imagine its world: Where does it live? How does it move? What does it eat? What makes it extraordinary? 

What can we discover when we slow down and really look at nature? We’ll explore the colors, textures, shapes, and patterns of the natural world through movement, collecting, arranging, building, and creating. Stones, sticks, leaves, flowers, seed pods, and other natural treasures may become patterns, sculptures, tiny landscapes, creatures, or something completely unexpected. This workshop celebrates the joy of noticing, experimenting, and creating with what we find around us. 

What can you create that fits in the palm of your hand? Tiny things are irresistible! After movement and games, we’ll open our miniature clay studio. Children can sculpt tiny foods, animals, mushrooms, bowls, creatures, houses, plants, treasures – or invent something we’ve never seen before. Natural materials and loose parts will be available for even more possibilities. 

What happens when color and water meet? Celebrate the end of the year with movement, experimentation, and lots of color! Young artists will investigate watercolor through dripping, spraying, tilting, layering, blending, resist techniques, and other playful processes. There is no single “right” result – just an afternoon of discovery and a beautiful collection of experiments and artwork to take home.
