WHY THE ARTS MATTER

“The arts are essential to the proper functioning of our society.  The arts continue to demonstrate their ability to provide categorical evidence of their impact on social issues that concern virtually every facet of American society.  The arts are especially important for our children.  Students with an arts rich education:

  • Have better grade point averages
  • Score better on standardized tests in reading and math
  • Have lower dropout rates

Funding for arts education programs in schools is being cut back or eliminated.  Many arts organizations have had to make drastic reductions in hours, and offer fewer productions each season.” – Americas for the Arts Action Fund

WAYS TO GIVE

There are several ways to give to River Tree Arts so that we may continue to bring the joy and benefit of the arts to everyone, regardless of age, income or level of experience!

Your support can make a difference by providing:

  • Scholarships to group classes
  • Scholarships to individual music students
  • Funds to host affordable art events
  • Funds for continued operations including salaries, utility bills and maintenance costs
  • Art equipment, to enhance the level of experience offered the community

For more on how you can directly give to River Tree Arts today, please see our WISH LIST. Help bring the benefits of theater, art, dance, and music to your children and grandchildren. Now is the time to become involved!

VOLUNTEER

As a Non-profit Center for the Arts, River Tree Arts depends on the community and dedicated members to participate in a wide range of activities and events. Your impact as a volunteer is vital to the success of our mission.

Be a part of the creative and supportive art community!

We warmly welcome volunteers who can help us for a one-time event or on an ongoing basis. As a grassroots local non-profit with a lot going on, there’s always a need. Volunteers help with:

  • Front desk: secretarial work (answer phone calls, take messages, greet students and guests) *If qualified with computer skills, light administrative paperwork is also an option.
  • Special events: set-up and break-down for concerts, recitals, reception, art workshops (Preparing food, move tables, unfold
    chairs, sweep, remove trash, etc.)
  • Behind the scenes: organizing art supplies, cleaning classrooms, preparing class materials, recycling objects, decorating chalkboards, creating flyers, ironing tablecloths for events, changing light bulbs
  • Committee or Board Member: active leadership role within the organization to help guide River Tree into the future. A minimum of 6 hours per month is required to participate in this type of role. In addition to actively leading the organization, there is an expectation that you contribute to our day to day success by attending monthly meetings, analyzing data, reading materials, writing grants, interviewing vendors/contractors, etc.

To join our team of volunteers or for more information, please contact us at: (207) 967-9120 or info@rivertreearts.org

High school students are welcome to join our volunteer community, and time spent at River Tree Arts can be used for volunteer requirements at school.
