Part-Time Weekend Dance Instructor
Specializing in Beginner Levels & Younger Age Groups
Location: River Tree Arts, Kennebunk, ME

River Tree Arts is a vibrant nonprofit community art center serving the Kennebunks for over 40 years. Our dance program engages over 100 students each year, including a competitive team of 40 dancers who have been invited to perform with national dance teams and compete at both regional and national levels.

We are seeking an energetic, creative, and dependable Part-Time Weekend Dance Instructor to teach beginner-level classes for younger age groups. Classes may include introductory hip hop, jazz, ballet, and creative movement. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, patience, and the ability to inspire confidence and joy in new dancers.

Responsibilities

  • Teach engaging, age-appropriate dance classes on weekends for beginner-level students
  • Introduce foundational dance technique in a fun and supportive environment
  • Foster a welcoming classroom atmosphere that builds confidence, creativity, and teamwork
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff about class progress and schedules
  • Support our mission to make arts education accessible to all

Additional Opportunities

  • Provide weekday afternoon coverage (Monday–Thursday) as a substitute for classes in progress, including those for our award-winning competitive team
  • Assist with performances, competitions, and community events as needed

Qualifications

  • Prior teaching experience with children preferred (studio, school, or camp setting)
  • Training in multiple dance styles, with a focus on hip hop, jazz, and ballet
  • Strong classroom management skills and a positive, encouraging teaching style
  • Flexibility and reliability; able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • CPR/First Aid certification a plus (or willingness to obtain)
  • Background check required
Part-Time Music Instructors
Afternoon & Weekend Availability
Location: River Tree Arts, Kennebunk, ME

River Tree Arts is a vibrant nonprofit community art center serving the Kennebunks for over 40 years. We offer high-quality visual and performing arts education to students of all ages and abilities, with a growing music program that includes private lessons, group classes, and performance opportunities. Our mission is to inspire creativity, foster community connection, and make the arts accessible to everyone.

We are seeking talented and enthusiastic Part-Time Music Instructors to join our faculty in one or more of the following disciplines:

  • Voice / Vocal Performance
  • Piano / Keyboard
  • Strings (violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar, ukulele)
  • Drums & Percussion
  • Wind & Brass Instruments (flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Teach engaging private and/or small group lessons for children, teens, and adults
  • Develop age- and skill-appropriate lesson plans tailored to each student’s goals and learning style
  • Introduce solid technique, music theory, and performance skills
  • Prepare students for recitals, auditions, and community performances
  • Communicate regularly with students and families about progress and goals
  • Support our mission to make music education accessible to all

Schedule

  • Afternoon and weekend availability required
  • Additional weekday teaching opportunities may be available based on student demand

Qualifications

  • Degree in music, performance, or music education (or equivalent professional experience or nearing your degree)
  • Experience teaching students of various ages and skill levels
  • Strong interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and a student-centered teaching approach
  • Ability to teach multiple styles and genres is a plus
  • Background check required
