PLEASE BE ADVISED:

  • Don’t dress in your best attire for art classes; art can get messy!
  • Please read all of River Tree Arts’ Policies and Procedures before registering for any event.
  • In the case that a class is canceled due to weather and a student cannot attend the rain-date, refunds will not be issued.
  • All children need to have a completed consent form on file before attending classes without an adult: RTA Consent Form
  • If there are any allergies or serious medical information that we need to be aware of before your child attends art camp, kindly ensure that you provide this information as early as possible so that we can make the necessary arrangements.  
  • No early drop off or late picks up can be accommodated. 
  • RTA is a NUT-FREE facility.

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Parent & Child Printmaking Workshop: Halloween Tote

  • Date: Wednesday, October 15
  • When: 5:30-7:30pm

Explore the joys of printmaking with this themed workshop! Learn basic linoleum block printing skills with a spooky twist. Attendees will learn how to design an image for printing, how to transfer to the block and carve, and how to print onto fabric. Each attendee will get to go home with their very own Halloween tote bag! This class is for beginners. All materials are provided. Come relax and create! Children ages 12+ are welcome to accompany an adult taking the workshop.

 

Acting Beyond the Script: Grades 3–8

  • Dates: October 20 – November 24

Join us for a high-energy weekend that dives into the magic beyond the script!  Young actors will explore the secrets of staying in character, reacting in the moment, and building unforgettable scenes. We’ll dig into what your character is really feeling, learn how to move with purpose on stage, and discover how improvisation can unlock new dimensions of performance.

With games, group scenes, and fun challenges, this intensive is perfect for curious performers who want to grow their confidence and stage presence—whether you’re brand new to acting or already love the spotlight.

Come curious, leave confident—and have a great time in between.

Intro to Guitar with Sam Smithwick (Grades 2-5)
  • Dates: (8 weeks) October 23 – December 18 (no class 11/27)
  • When: Thursdays, 3:45-4:30pm (45 minutes)
  • Ages: Grades 2-5

Our Beginner Guitar Group Lessons are the perfect introduction to the world of music! Designed for kids in grades 2-5, this fun and supportive class teaches the basics of guitar in an exciting group setting. No prior experience needed—just bring a guitar and a willingness to learn! Group classes encourage teamwork, build confidence, and make learning fun through interactive games, musical activities, and progress at a comfortable pace. Students are expected to provide their own instruments when possible. RTA has a limited number of guitars available to loan for this class.

Students will learn:

  • How to hold and tune the guitar
  • Basic chords and strumming patterns
  • Simple songs they’ll love to play
  • Fundamental music skills and rhythms
Mixed-Media + Sculpture

  • Dates: (6 weeks) November 6 – December 18 (no class on Thanksgiving) 
  • When: Thursdays, 3:30-5pm

River Tree Arts, in partnership with Way to Be Yoga, invites tweens to join our weekly Mindful Arts After School Program—a two-hour class designed to nurture creativity, self-awareness, and personal growth in a supportive community.  Piloted during our summer camps, this program blends mindfulness practices with creative projects, giving students valuable tools to navigate life’s transitions with confidence and curiosity.

Each session includes a balance of relaxation, reflection, and hands-on creativity. Students will enjoy activities such as:

  • “I Am” Projects – exploring identity and self-expression with different materials & goals
  • Breathing Beads – crafting tools to support calm and focus
  • 5-Minute Mindful Breaks – quick resets for the mind and body
  • Mindful Snacking – savoring textures, flavors, and sensations
  • Journaling & Goal-Setting – building habits of reflection and intention
  • Short Meditations – encouraging clarity and resilience
  • Gentle Yoga Practices – supporting health and wellness

Tweens will walk away each week with new skills, creative projects, and a stronger sense of connection to themselves and others.
