In this class, we will work together as a team to produce one story, from beginning to end. The class will decide by vote if we will use an already existing story or fable for our project.

Each illustrator will be tasked with completing a page (or two) of the story in their own unique style to achieve this goal. It is during this time that we will discuss the broad media of illustration: digital, photography, color, paint, pencil, cut paper, etc.

For the last class on November 7, students and instructor will meet up at River Tree Arts to share their completed works. All pages will be put together and assembled into a one of a kind book for all to enjoy! We will send the book off to print and each student will receive their own copy to keep.

All materials included and will be picked-up at River Tree Arts.

In this class we will go over a brief history of superheroes and the character design of some popular characters; a lot of pop culture iconic cartoons and comics did not start off as we know them today. From there, each illustrator will design their own character (superhero or otherwise), and explain their process on how they came to be.

The class will explore different mediums to make their creation “come alive” (pen, pencil, paper, found materials, ink, collage, etc.). Original characters will be presented in a critique style to class in the form of character in background, character model sheet, and character in short comic strip/doing some activity.

COVID policies: Class sizes are limited to 6 students. Masks must be worn by instructors and students during the duration of their visit to River Tree Arts. In-person classes are subject to switch to virtual classes at any time. Refunds will not be issued for this switch.
